Andrey Grintsevich was born in 1956 in Ulyanovsk within a modest family of a retired military man. His four elder brothers and a younger sister were his dearest childhood companions which Andrey remained affected to throughout his entire life, despite its most challenging times.

He never thought about making art his life’s work at that time, and after graduation he entered the Odessa Nautical School.

However, the future artist quickly realized that fine art opens up much more opportunities for him. He left his studies, completed compulsory military service at the rocket troops and moved to his mother’s hometown Panevėžys in Lithuania where he worked as a theatre designer, and then to Vilnius where he started his professional studies and career as an artist.

Later on Andrey graduated from Surikov Institute and since then has been staying permanently in Moscow. Since 1973 he has been actively painting, exhibiting and selling his works, and starting from his first personal exhibition in Panevėžys in 1978 he became famous as a prominent surrealist, portraitist and experimenter.

In his continuous search of self-perfection, Andrey traveled a lot, studying technics of great masters of the past in the museums and collections worldwide, seeing cultural masterpieces. His active lifestyle and wide personal network made his personality as attractive and popular as his art. A large number of personal exhibitions and active purchases of his works by public museums all over the world created for him an extensive clients base and army of admirers.

Andrey hbecame remarkably famous with his series of psychological portraits of contemporaries, which are undoubtedly recognized as currently the highest achievements in this genre. However, he never abandoned his aspirations of painting from imagination, no matter how successful and demanded were his portraitist activity. After in-depth professional and cultural investigations Andrey summarized his ideas and created his own movement called Dream Vision which is technically based on the classic painting and uses not only imagination and intuition but also subconsciousness and unconscious sensations. Due to the extensive cultural context the Dream Vision paintings became popular in various countries and social classes.
