Xie Zhiliu (1910-1997) was an outstanding modern Chinese master of painting and calligraphy and academic studies. He was called “Zhang in the north while Xie in the South” together with Zhang Heng. His work well blended ink and color, which was high spoken by Zhang Daqian. Created in 1977, colored paper painting Landscape of Sichuan (44.5 x 170 cm) was sold for 5.08 Millions HK dollars, about 657 thousand US dollars at Christie’s auctions on May 31st, 2016.
