Definition of African Art

Singing Palette 2016-05-13 17:32: African art include the works of the African Diasporas, such as the oil paintings of African Americans. Many contemporary African artists are represented in museum collections, their paintings sell for high prices at art auctions. Picasso, Modigliani and Matisse, were heavily influenced by traditional African art. Numerous exhibitions at the Museum dispaly African paintings; the African Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale, showcased the African Collection of Contemporary Art.
