In 1967, the 68-year-old Chang Dai-chien completed his paper-based painting “Red Leaves and Bird” (a size of 68.5*82cm) as a gift for his friend. It was auctioned for 197 thousand dollars in New York Christie’s Auction in 13 September, 2016, with about 305 thousand Hong Kong Dollars every Chinese square foot. The unit price of every Chinese square foot is only an odd of “Peach Blossom Spring”, whose hammer price is 240 billion Hong Kong Dollars in April of the same year with a size of 17.7 square feet.
