Sun rising through Vapour: Fishermen cleaning and selling Fish Joseph Mallord William Turner before 1807 Oil on canvas 134 x 179.5 cm
This work was probably influenced by earlier Dutch painting. No particular locality seems intended. Almost certainly the picture was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1807 with the title as given here.
In Turner's will he asked for this and his 'Dido building Carthage' to be hung between Claude's 'Seaport with the Embarkation of the Queen of Sheba' and 'The Mill' at the National Gallery.
